Electoral Registration

How to Register to Vote

The Register is updated on a monthly basis to reflect changes to the register as they occur.

For example, if you move house and notify the Electoral Registration Officer of the change early in March, your name could be added to the Register on 1 April.

You can now register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by telephone to our office, or contact us for a paper application form to be posted out.  To register you will need your date of birth and national insurance number which will be verified against Government records.  You can choose to vote in person at the polling station, by nominating a proxy to vote on your behalf, or by post. Forms can be provided in an alternative format or large print.

Mencap and the Cabinet Office have created an easy-read guide to assist people with learning disabilities when registering online through their campaign My Vote My Voice.
